note: these items were not gifted by sponsors, all  are items I have bought for personal use

This is about the time of year that feels quite long. The winter is slowly ending. There isn’t a national holiday after President’s weekend until the 4th of July. Daylight savings just robbed us of an hour and for some reason I’m the idiot who still feels tired. Not complaining, all is well, but Spring sometimes feels like a long segue to summer.

I tend to do a lot of purging and organizing this time of the year. It makes me feel accomplished and “lighter” in a lot of ways. I cleaned out my closet and bathroom and made piles to donate and trash. I forced Steve to throw out cologne he’s had for 7 years. I threw out all my gross socks and replaced them with brand new ones. It’s a great feeling to know that  not only don’t own all that much, but I have a use for nearly everything in my closet. At least for now (and here’s hoping for the next year).

All that purging left me with a void for a few items. A great cross over body bag. Athletic socks. Great sunscreen (to name a few). And so, here are some things I’ve recently acquired that I absolutely love!

1. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Soy Candle in Geranium ($8.99)
The best part about this candle (other than being soy based) is that it smells amazing even when it’s not burning. It’s nice a strong, and works perfectly in a bedroom or bathroom. Every time I stray and buy a different candle, I end up regretting it. It also comes in other great scents – I love the lavender one as well.

2. Old Navy Active Tunic Jackets ($24.46 with coupon code ENJOY)
I despise the idea of spending lots of money on an article of clothing with the sole intention of sweating in it – which is why I love Old Navy workout gear. When I last wore this jacket (which covers the butt for leggings lovers – a nice plus), my label conscious friend asked me if it was from the lululemon Spring collection.  Nice work, Old Navy.

3. Juice Beauty SPF30 Sport Moisturizer ($16 )
80% of the signs of aging come from sun damage so it’s crucial to use a good sunscreen(not to mention that whole skin cancer thing).  As I learned from Jane Iredale, there are two types of sunscreens in this world – mineral and chemical. While both protect skin from UV rays, mineral sunscreens (active ingredient: zinc oxide) reflect the rays from the skin while chemical sunscreens transform the rays’ energy from light to heat (which makes your skin incredibly hot). There are tradeoff though. Mineral sunscreen can be incredibly thick, hard to rub in, and can often leave a sticky white residue on top of your skin. For my face, I really like this moisturizer, but in terms of body coverage, I’m not using pricey face cream to make sure I don’t burn. And living in Southern California, daily sunscreen on my exposes skin is a must – especially during warmer months. Juice Beauty SPF30 Sport Moisturizer is one of the best mineral sunscreens I’ve found in terms of not leaving a white residue on my skin. It’s taken a few minutes off my morning routine, when I add it to my neck and arms. I’m also not worried about the white residue staining my clothing!

4. Gap Sports Socks in Gray ($5.17 for two pairs with code SCORE)
Several years ago, I started buying multiple pairs of identical socks to eliminate ever searching for a particular sock’s twin. If you lose a sock, no worries – you probably wont even notice. Laundry is a breeze. On top of only having identical socks, I get rid of all my socks every 3-5 years or so and replace them with brand new ones. I find these socks from Gap to be a great value in terms of a great cushioned sock. I love the gray color because it doesn’t show wear and tear like white ones do.

5. Vince Camuto Molly Crossbody Bag in Tan ($198, currently on MyHabit for $89)
The idea of a nice crossbody bag for the essentials is incredibly appealing to me. It frees up my hands to walk the dogs, carry bags, or just generally not feel tied down Ito a larger, bulkier, shoulder bag. This bag fits the essentials (wallet, keys, phone, sunglasses, and lip gloss), is nicely constructed, looks great with any outfit, and I have a feeling it will be a staple in my wardrobe for a long time. As an extra bonus: the designer name is nowhere to be found. I’ve never been a fan of designer names splashed across handbags or shoes – it makes me uncomfortable that everyone can guess how much something costs based on a public labeling system. I’d much rather have a chic bag that no one can place – it feels more understated stylish to me.
